ESPN’s FPI gives Dallas a significant advantage over the Rams, who have struggled of late vs. Dallas. This is in spite of the fact that the Cowboys are 4-11 on short rest under their current head coach, Jason Garrett. In addition, Lamarcus Joyner, the Rams’ starting free safety, will not play on Sunday because of a nagging hamstring injury.
Pro Football Focus rated Joyner fourth among 80 safeties through the first 3 weeks of this season. His backup, Cody Davis, didn’t practice today because of a sore quad. He is currently listed as questionable.
If both of them can’t play this Sunday vs. Dallas, defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will count on Blake Countess and Rookie John Johnson.
